21st Century Oboe
Christopher Redgate & the Howarth-Redgate Oboe
Home      New works for a new oboe

Throughout my performing career I have worked with composers and over the years have had the privilege of performing many new works for the instrument. Today, I work only on the new Howarth-Redgate oboe and I am developing a repertoire specifically for this instrument.

At the moment the following composers are writing new works for the instrument: Paul Archbold, Christopher Fox and Nigel McBride - the works by Archbold and McBride will be premiered later this year in Oxford (see the concerts listing for further information).

The first five works written for the new oboe had funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council. The composers were: Barrett, Ferneyhough, Finnissy, Hayden and Roxburgh.

Other composers who have written for the new instrument include: Dorothy Ker, David Gorton, Fabrice Fitch and Roberto Rusconi.
